graduation day

On May 21, 2012, I finally graduated from grad school. You can now call me Sarah Hamelin, MSW. This has been such an amazing journey. I have learned so much about myself through this experience and have met some really amazing people. Now the next steps in my journey begin.
Here"s my little man wearing my cap. I hope he will wear a cap like this for real same day and appreciate the value of education

These are some of those amazing people I was talking  about. A few friends I made alony the way (Steph, Tracy, and Linda)

Eric playing the drums:

computer down!

I'm going to update by letting you know how difficult it is to update my blog these days. A few weeks ago  we were skyping with my friend Marissa and her kids. The little guy seemed totally fine. The next thing we know, the little guy threw up all over my computer. The computer for the most part is fine. However, some of the keys don't work anymore. Thankfully I have a touch screen with a touch keyboard but it makes things a sloooow process. I think it's time to get  a new  keyboard. If I just typed with the keys that work, here's  what the alphabet would look like:
abcdefijklmopqrstuvwxyz can you tell what's missing?

Randoms

I am hoping that once I graduate (on May 21st!) from grad school. I will be better about keeping up with the blog. Until then I am giving myself a pass because let's be honest, I have a lot going on. However, I don't want to slack too much because I will really be upset if I look back at this blog years from now and discover a chunk of Eric's life missing. Of course because I have not blogged in a while. Blogger changed its format so I'm trying to get up and running on the new format, ugh. So here are some random pictures. I apologize for big Eric's armpit in this picture. My point was to take a picture of the fact that Pokey (who is probably just as big as Eric) is lying on Eric.
One day Eric decided to fix his truck. He was lying on the ground like a real mechanic and working hard.

Eric loves to read books. I found him in his room reading books (sorry, he's in his underwear again!). He's been sleeping on the floor again lately so he just snuggled up on his sleeping bag and was reading away!

Zollin's wedding

My friend Becky got married on April 1st. We've known each other since like 4th grade. It was nice to celebrate with her and spend time with old friends. Of course I did not get any pictures of Eric and I all dressed up. I did get a picture of the girls from high school (from left to right, lindsay, becky, me, and Lisa).

Here's Zollin and her new husband Mike

Easter

We had a very nice, but as usual, very busy Easter. The Easter bunny made a lot of stops for Eric' He stopped at daycare on friday and hid eggs. Eric's response was "He is a tricky bunny. He came at circle time. I didn't see him!"
On Easter the Easter bunny hid eggs at our house and at Nana's house. He loved doing the egg hunt. He got some nice things from the Easter bunny and got to spend lots of time with family including Papa, Nani, Nana, Phil, Uncle Ray, Tyler, and Alex and Meme, Pepe, Gramma, Ted, Auntie Karen, Uncle Mike, Dylan and Ryan. It was a very nice day. Above you can see him enjoying his bunny for breakfast haha.

Eric's 3rd birthday

On March 13th, we celebrated Eric's 3rd birthday. We had his party the sunday before his birthday. He challenged me by wanting me to make a Buzz Lightyear cake. Here's the result:

It's time for cake

After opening all of his presents at his party he still got more presents from us on his actual birthday. Sorry for the pictures of him in his underwear but this is how he sleeps at night so it's how he woke up! He got a Woody doll like he asked for and a book and a movie and some cars (because we don't have enough of those!)

It was difficult for me to have to work for the first time on his birthday. His birthday fell on a Tuesday which is my long day when I don't normally get home until around 7. So I left my internship for a few hours as a special treat, picked him up from daycare and took him out to lunch at Red Robin. We had a nice lunch and then I dropped him back off at daycare. I think he had a nice birthday!

Now that Eric is three he is doing so many more things. He is able to cut with scissors and really enjoys doing it. He can pedal a bike, he can count to 15 but can go higher when prompted, he can identify some colors but only when we don't ask (he consistantly identifies orange). He can tell us about his whole day, he has a great imagination. He has some of the best phrases and questions. I love when we do activities and he asks everyone "what was your favorite part?" He tells everyone how much fun things are after they are over. He is so full of love (and always has been)- He will randomly just say, "I love you____" and melt your heart. He is such a smart, fun, happy little guy. The only thing is that he has become rather whiny as a three year old but he's working on it and he is also working on listening and will make sure to tell us "I'm listening" so that we are aware of when he's actually doing it. He is also in the "what?" phase. Like he never hears anything anyone says and we're constantly repeating ourselves and then we realize if we wait a minute instead of repeating ourselves he totally hears us he just says "what" most of the time just because!
