broken

I realized that I went by my pictures in regards to catching up my blog and forgot some life events. So at the end of September we were at my sister's house celebrating my nephew's birthday. At the end of the night I heard Eric crying in the boys' bedroom. He said he "fell" off the top bunk. What I really think happened (and we'll never really know because he was the only one in the room) is that instead of using the ladder to get down he slid off the side and then let go and fell the rest of the way. Needless to say after he got up from the fall he was limping. It was late at night so I brought him home and put him to bed and hoped that he would feel better in the morning. When he woke up the next day he was still limping pretty bad. We had some limping issues over the summer so I decided to not panic and go to the ER and instead just stay at home with him and make sure that he got plenty of rest and I gave him some ibuprofen hoping that he would stop limping with that in his system. He never really stopped limping but it seemed to get better. When he woke up the next day (a monday) he seemed to be doing better so I dropped him off at daycare and explained to our daycare provider what was going on with him. She texted me and said that he was crawling around and not really walking at daycare. I made him an appointment with the doctor but when I got him to the doctor's office he was running around like nothing was wrong. He got x-rays done and we had a great person take him x-rays and for the first time he didn't flip out while getting x-rays so that was a plus! Turns out he had a buckle fracture on his foot which means that the bone buckled into itself but it wasn't a complete break. The doctor said it would heal in a few days and that he should just keep his shoes on for extra support. This is why he was crawling at daycare because he didn't have his shoes on, and then running around at the doctor's office because he did have his shoes on. So needless to say about a week's worth of wearing shoes and he was good as new. I'm sure this is one of many visits to the doctors for injuries in his lifetime!

There you go!

There you go! All updated... well for the most part. There are pictures and events that have been missed because the pictures are saved all over creation and it's hard to gather them all but hopefully now that I have my new computer I will get better. One can only hope! It is so important to me to keep this blog going. It's my scrapbook for my son. I don't print out pictures, I don't scrapbook and so this is my way of maintaining my memories. I'm hoping that blogger doesn't go out of business so I can have this forever! Happy holidays!

Christmas season so far

The little guy and I have had a fun Christmas season so far. He is so into it this year and of course he wants every toy he sees. For some reason, every year when I think about him I always think about how old he'll be next year at this time decorating the tree. Next year he'll be 4 1/2, almost 5. I can hardly stand it. I know it'll be here before I know it. He's growing up so fast and I love seeing him grow and change and how decorating the apartment and tree gets more exciting every year. Here we are decorating the tree:

So normally Eric and daddy put the star on the tree and I take a picture of this. However, it was just me and the little guy so I actually took a picture of him while he was on my shoulders. However, this was unsuccessful because the star wouldn't stay on (One of those frustrating things when I feel like I need Eric and he's not around). So needless to say, we attempted, it failed, and so we just waiting for Daddy to show up and do it for us! I can only do so much!

Last weekend we went to the Bass Pro Shop to meet santa. It was so cool and free, which is even better! So I had both of the Erics with me that day so it was nice. While we were waiting in line there were these little fishing nets that Eric decided he wanted. So instead of telling Santa about all the things that he has wanted for Christmas, the first thing he told Santa about was the net. What a goober.

So this weekend we went to \Edaville Railroad. Big Eric was supposed to come but this has been one of those weekends where our communication has not been good so just me and the little guy went. I always get nervous and a little bummed when I have to do the fun things without Eric. It's a little bit of a shock to the system. When I got there and saw all the rides it hit me that I was going to have to go on every ride which is not normally my role. The first ride the little guy wanted to go on was the ferris wheel. I hate ferris wheels, they make me so nervous. So I held on tight, palms sweating and put a smile on my face and just kept telling the little guy to not move. I survived, and it was the little guy's favorite ride so he got me in to it. I was so thankful when we got up to a ride and was told "this is a kids only ride," Phew! It was an airplane ride and the little guy loved it (see picture below).I was not impressed by Edaville. I would not go again. I'm pretty sure they haven't updated anything there since I was a kid. But the little guy loved it and that was most important. I didn't take him insde to see Santa because how many times can he see that jolly old elf? Anyways, we did the rides, we went on the train and then I convinced him to leave with a reward of a trip to McDonald's because it was cold and I couldn't feel my feet. But I'm glad he enjoyed it. That's all that matters.

Here's a s\uper cute video of him when we lit the tree for the first time.

Florida!!!

So I needed a vacation. With everything going on with Eric and I, I needed to get to my favorite place ever... Florida! My parents and sister and her family were all going to be down there and I wanted to go too! So I found some cheap plane tickets and decided to make the plunge. It was so worth it. At first I was nervous about travelling by myself with Eric. I was also struggling with some temporary and unpleasant depression (which makes me understand the people I work with more) right before we left. So when we got to Florida I missed big Eric a lot because the last time we were down there he was with us. I didn't expect that feeling and I called him and told him how I felt and then seemed to feel better once I talked about it. My parents were great because they would do stuff with Eric so I could relax. They had a lounge chair on the porch of the timeshare and that was my favorite spot. There were palm trees to look at and warm weather and it was a perfect rejuvenation to my life. It made me forget how crazy life was at home and I truly enjoyed it. It was also nice because this year Eric was able to go on almost all the rides because he's tall enough. I took him on Thunder Mountain which he did not like but says now, "I was very brave" because that's what I told him haha. I wish we had time for him to go on Splash Mountain, I think he would have liked that better. I especially enjoyed being able to be there with my nephews on their first trip to Florida and seeing things through their eyes. The boys had so much fun and I'm glad they were able to vacation together. Hopefully we can do this again someday... but I swear I'm not going next year, student loans mean no more spontaneous trips to Florida for me.

Here he is with Max and Mr. Grinch, ready to go to Florida

Tray table or foot rest. The flight attendant wasn't ttotally pleased that he was doing these but ah, who cares!

On the boat over the magic kingdom. I think Eric was a little excited!

The boys :)

an old pro at the carousel

Still can't get that stinkin sword out of the stone

It's a small world after all...

Shout out to my brother in law Mike for taking Eric on the teacups (and almost making him throw up!) so that I didn't have to go on it!

Goofy!

Last year we had just missed meeting Buzz Lightyear. This year I was on a personal mission to make sure that Eric got to meet him. He was so excited!

Just love this picture

His favorite killer whale, Shamu!

Just had to get a picture in front of the snowman again this year

A lot of what Eric remembered from his trip last year was from reading the book that I made him about the trip, over and over and over again. So when we got to Sea World he was so excited to pet the sting rays just like we read in the book. He was an old pro at this and taught his cousins how it was done!

Eric even fed the sting ray. The boys are being taught how to feed the sting rays (they eat shrimp in case anyone was wondering!)

 Love his picture!

Over the years the shamu show has changed quite a bit. When I was a kid the trainers would get in the water and fly through the air and do all these tricks. Now it's not quite as exciting for me because the trainers don't get in the water anymore during the show but the boys love it.

I am disappointed that this picture didn't come out the way I wanted it to. The light actually looked like a snowman head but you can't see that in the picture.

Backtrack, these are more pictures from Magic Kingdom

So Eric was pretty upset that he didn't get to go on the dumbo ride so he wasnt' initially thrilled to go on this goofy roller coaster. However, outside the roller coaster there was this rocket that looked like it crashed into a rock so the whole time we were waiting in line Eric was coming up with a hypothesis of how goofy got the rocket into the rock. It was pretty cute. If you ask him he'll tell you all about his hypothesis.

Back to Sea World, this is the video of Eric feeding the sting ray. You put the shrimp between your fingers and the shrimp come sup and eats it right out of your fingers. Eric let them take it right out of his hands.
