Since my semester is over at school I have no motivation to do much of anything! I ended my semester well so far I've gotten an A in one class and I'm waiting ro my grade for my other class and I passed field placement for the semester. I can't believe I am half way through grad school. Next semester will be my last semester where I will have the luxury of only having to drive to Worcester to take classes. After that I have to drive to BC (which I've only been to once!) so that will present a whole new set of obstacles but I'll deal with that as it comes. On top of that I am leaving my job for the 4th time in 5 years but this time I REALLY REALLY REALLY am NOT going back! So I am looking forward to starting the new year with a nice fresh start.
So where do I begin with catching up my blog...
I'll use the pictures to catch up most of this. However, on a medical note, Eric had his ultrasound and appointment with the urologist last week. Things are continuing to improve for him. Unfortunately he still has to continue on his antibiotics until we have his next VCUG in 6 months. It was an exhausting visit because he screams through the whole ultrasound and I have to restrain him for it which is totally exhausting. Then the doctor was running behind and we were 45 minutes early for our appointment anyway so it was a disaster. But he handled it very well and we survived and took nice naps when we got home :)
On another note Eric seems to be preparing us for him turning two in 3 months by throwing tantrums and testing us to our limits. My motto used to be "pick your battles" because we had to distiguish what was worth fighting him about. However, now I need to stand my ground because he is one spoiled little cutie who is taking control over our household. So we've spent the weekend fighting tantrums but we've survived and I know it will get better. Interestingly I've realized that for years I have worked with parents as a behavior therapist and have given so much advice on how to handle behaviors and I am now coming to realize that it is all easier said than done. I actually apologized today to one of the parents that I gave all my brilliant advice to.
This all being said, despite temper tantrums and fighting me for control, Eric is talking so much. His favorite things to talk about are snowmen (especially Frosty) and Santa Claus. He also thinks that every time we are leaving the house we are going to see Pepe. He is starting to say phrases. Tonight he was telling everyone at my parent's house, "I like cake too." The other day we had come home and he said, "stairs" to which I responded, "Right we are going upstairs." Then I realized that he was telling me that he wanted to take the stairs up to our apartment instead of the elevator. He must know that mommy has been eating a lot at holiday parties and needs to take the stairs! He surprises us every day with the words he knows and how much he understands.
Ok the rest of the pictures should catch me and all my faithful readers up on what's been going on.
We had family pictures taken at Target. They did a nice job despite Eric not smiling

Eric typically hangs out in the kitchen when I'm cooking dinner. While I'm trying to cook he is making obstacle courses for me in the kitchen; putting his magnetic letters all over the floor, taking bowls out of the cabinet, etc. So since lately he is obsessed with bubble baths but it is not something he can take every night because it says on the bottle that too many bubble baths could cause urinary tract problems; I decided to fill a bucket with water and I put some dishwasher detergent in it to make bubbles and then threw some cups and spoons in it. He played quietly and contently for about 30 minutes. He was soaked and so was the floor but I was able to get dinner done without tripping over anything.
On December 4th my aunt and uncle had their yearly open house holiday party. It was crazy in there with all of those kids but Eric enjoyed playing with cousins that he doesn't normally see.
Today we had two parties to go to. First was my friend Marissa's daughter's first birthday. Of course I didn't take any pictures :(
Then we went to my parents house to celebrate my mom's birthday (that's tomorrow). Eric was so hopped up on cake that he was running around like a crazy man all night but he definitely enjoyed himself!
Meme and her boys. I don't know why Eric is brushing his teeth but we just let him be in all his silliness

We bought Eric some slippers. One pair are patriots slippers. The other one is as Eric would say, "Light Queen!" or lighting McQueen. He was really not interested in wearing these slippers but one day he decided on his own that he was ready to try them on. At first he didn't know how to walk in them but once he figured it out he was stomping around the house. Here he is:
