doctors doctors and more doctors

This has been the week of doctors appointments. Tuesday the baby had his appointment with the urologist at UMass. I am so glad that we don't have to go to UMass on a frequent basis because it is a zoo over there. The Urologist said the baby was fine. We were sent there because the pediatrician was a little concerned because he had some fluid in his left testicle. Apparently it is very common in boys and we just have to keep an eye on it to make sure that he doesn't get swelling in his groin.
The next doctors appointment was my six week check up where I got a clean bill of health. I'm kind of sad that I won't be going to my doctor's office all the time. It kind of became the norm for such a long time.
Yesterday we had a doctors appointment for the baby with the plastic surgeon. I told Eric that the appointment was at 2 (it was at 2:15) because we have literally been late to every appointment. It turns out it didn't matter since we spent most of the afternoon at the doctor's office. We were there because the baby was born with an extra thumb that needs to be removed eventually. It would have been really helpful if the doctor had told us that we should get X-Rays first before we came to the appointment. So we got there and they sent us to get X-Rays. He did really well with the X-Rays. He sat on my lap and I held his hand down. He slept through the first two but wasn't too thrilled about the third one. So the radiologist told me that they sent the X-Rays over to the doctors so we left and went back to the doctors. When we got there they told us that they had no way of getting those X-Rays and we would have to go back and get either a disk or the films. So Eric went back and got the disk and then they couldn't correctly open the X-Rays on the disk. Thankfully the doctor was able to read them anyway. So a doctors appointment that started at 2:15 didn't end until after 5. The good thing is that although there is a bone in the thumb, it is not attached to anything. The whole procedure will take about 15 minutes. We will be getting it taken off at the end of the summer when he's big enough. It will be weird for him not to have it because it's become kind of a trademark.

Today Eric is getting a bunch of cavities filled and tomorrow I have a dentist appointment and after that we should be free and clear of doctors appointments for the next week thank goodness!

Every so often the baby sleeps on his side. It is very cute. It will only be a matter of time before he rolls right over on his stomach

So the witching hours have returned because the baby won't stay awake during the day so at night he's wide awake from about 6pm until 11pm. This would be fine if he wasn't screaming for half of that time. Last night Eric was pulling out all the stops to get the baby to calm down. He insists that the baby likes to be held like this because it feels good on his stomach:

Eric also does this thing where he bounces the baby on the bed. The baby loves it and he finally ended up falling asleep.
